Organizing this destination wedding at Chateau Gassies for Sally and Matthieu was an emotional experience for me. As a wedding planner specializing in destination weddings, I was thrilled to organise this wedding at home, in Gironde, with French and Americans who expatriated in Switzerland.

I have been increasingly solicited to organize international weddings. Needless to say I was honoured when Sally and Mathieu, who are currently living in Switzerland, chose me as their wedding planner for their Franco-American ceremony.

Their wedding at Chateau Gassies was a wonderful experience for me! I proudly suggested this Bordeaux domain to Sally and Mathieu, which for me is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Gironde.

This destination wedding at Chateau Gassies was organised with American style codes. Everything was grandiose! We set up the stage for the Fix the Music band that came specially from England, provided comfortable accommodation, made sure shuttles were available to drive guests from the château to their accommodation… Everything was done so that the bride and groom and their guests could enjoy the moment as their eyes shone with emotion.

Today I wish to share wonderful memories of this joyful, chic and multicultural wedding.

“What an adventure with Sally and Matthieu! The wedding was planned for 2020, postponed to July 2021 and finally held in October! However, we will remember one very positive thing from this adventure: our relationship of trust and a certain shared affection.

Sally and Matthieu are fortunate to be very well surrounded. Their family and friends came from all over the world. The night before the wedding, we shared a wonderful rehearsal dinner with several speeches that were all unique and moving. On the day of the wedding the weather was glorious. Needless to say we were very lucky as it was October, early autumn.

The wedding reception room was incredibly decorated with wooden chairs which added warmth to the autumnal atmosphere. The tables were set with discreet floral centerpieces. The bride and groom had planned a concert with an English band for the evening. Therefore, a stage was set up as well as a set of lights managed by a sound engineer and a light engineer. The concert lasted 2 hours and the atmosphere was crazy throughout the entire gig!

The wedding meal and cocktail reception was of very high standard as it was catered by Humblot. The guests thoroughly enjoyed their wedding evening!

As for the secular ceremony, it lasted only 30 minutes (American style), with a rehearsal the day before the wedding in the presence of the officiant, the bridal party and myself.

Sally, Matthieu and I have kept a great relationship! They are a lovely handsome couple. They exude a crazy charisma that also made this wedding a special one.”

Château Gassies, ideal for receptions and wedding stays

Located in Latresne, a few kilometers from Bordeaux on the right bank of the Garonne, Château Gassies is a fabulous wedding reception venue.

This authentic chateau in the Bordeaux region will surely seduce the bride and groom and their families. Château Gassies is a vast estate perched on a hillside with a panoramic view over Bordeaux. But also and above all, it proudly displays a magnificent 190 m2 reception room built in the architectural style of the period, with ashlar walls and exposed natural wood beams, high ceilings and large openings onto the château’s grounds.

Sally and Matthieu received 120 guests at their wedding reception.

In addition, the domain offers its guests the possibility to rent suites and also a gîte for the bride and groom and their guests who wish to stay for a short period. Château Gassies offers various outdoor activities including access to its swimming pool with a terrace to relax in a cool and idyllic setting overlooking the city of Bordeaux.
